Working Test Results for 2011
Novice Cold Game on the Boughton Estate - 26 March
The Midland Area held a Novice Cold Game test on the Boughton Estate in Northamptonshire by kind permission of the Duke of Buccleuch. Judges for the day were Mr.P.Garton and Mr.M.R.Thwaites.
The day was run on Field Trial lines and there was an excellent variety of game-pheasants, partridges, wild ducks, pigeons and rabbits. The first 2 rounds were walked up in white grass, and the third in woodland. The final 11 dogs sat for a drive and were then asked to retrieve blinds in the wood.

Intermediate and Open tests at Groby Lodge Farm near Markfield - 8 May
The Midland Area held Intermediate and Open Tests at Groby Lodge Farm, judged by Guy Bennett, Godfrey Lowe and Malcolm Smith. Chief steward Carol Goodes had set some testing exercises using the wonderful water, fences and cover. With a strong wind blowing some handlers struggled on a blind close to a hedge with the added distraction of a long mark on the water. A double mark and a picking up exercise completed the morning tests. After a cut at lunchtime, 8 Intermediate dogs and 8 Open dogs completed two more tests.

Area Finals
This year the Midlands Area was represented by Jane Fairclough, John Kahlow and Chris Winfield. They had mixed fortunes on the day as did other Areas and after a difficult morning made great improvements in the afternoon and finished in 5th place. They did however all enjoy their day with the interesting ground, well thought out tests and excellent refreshments at the end of the day. Many thanks to North Midlands Area for providing yet another memorable Area Finals.
