Held by kind permission of Mr R A H Perkins, on the most wonderful ground, which enabled stewards Steve Nevitt and Roy Stone to run the nearest thing one could get to a field trial.

During the first part of the day, judges Steve Crookes and Mick Newsam were able to see the dogs work on undulating ground on a hillside, over a fence into woods and then as the line moved on, across more undulating ground amongst the trees with the odd pheasant taking flight to lend a realistic touch to the day.

After the first two rounds there was a drive and the dogs were then sent across the lake for a blind retrieve.  This was the undoing of some dogs, but the best going ones made it look easy.  After a short break for lunch, 11 dogs were taken for a final retrieve and the judges closed their books.

Head Keeper Glyn Rowland had provided an endless supply of cold game of all varieties and the club could not have been made more welcome by our host, his family and Glyn.  The team of helpers was outstanding and there was a great atmosphere all day.
